Maryam Zahid

Ms. Maryam has been practicing as a Corporate Commercial Lawyer at Kilam Law Firm. She graduated with LLB (Hons) from the University of London. She has developed expertise in the field of Insurance, and regularly represents a variety of insurance, reinsurance, and takaful companies in the Insurance Tribunal. She is currently also doing research on digital insurance and its scope in Pakistan.

Ms. Zahid possesses in-depth commercial industrial knowledge and has mastered the art of incorporating Single limited, Private, and other types of Companies with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan. She is regularly handling the filing of annual returns of a company and changes in their particulars. Her clients include both local and multi-national organizations inclusive of audit Firms.

Ms. Maryam also represents Banking matters at the Banking Courts. She has written a number of Articles for “Naya Daur” by Friday Times, and Youth General Assembly relating to Pakistani laws such as the Parent Protection Ordinance 2021, Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights Act), 2018, and Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016. She has participated in the research for the Chinese case law and its impact in Pakistan which was a project of a professor teaching at the University of Oxford. She is currently working on legal strategies to control cyber breaches in Pakistan that take place on websites and other kinds of data systems. Recently her Insurance Litigation Article has also been published on the Lexology’s website which is a renowned platform that deals with laws and regulations across international jurisdictions.

In addition to Ms. Zahid’s corporate experience, she also reviews commercial contracts as she regularly drafts, reviews, and edits them. She is well-versed in agreement formation, highlighting main terms and summarizing key points which are key areas of concern during breach of contract and contractual dispute matters. She has drafted agreements for renowned online stores, restaurants, and cafes in the country. She has also made numerous rent agreements and is well-equipped with the rent laws in Pakistan. She has worked on digitization contracts which are rapidly gaining popularity. She is the founder of the society called “Legal Arch.”
